Open Doors: Exploring the Homes of Historic North Woodside invites you into our charming neighborhood shaped over more than 130 years of growth, from rural to urban. Beginning in the 1890s along Grace Church Road and expanding through the early 20th century, North Woodside offers a living gallery of local architecture from late Victorian homes to bungalows, Tudors, and Colonials to mid-century cottages. Once promoted as a peaceful escape just 20 minutes from the White House, it remains a place of blended history and contemporary life.
Today, those open doors reveal more than beautiful interiors, they offer a glimpse into a vibrant, connected community. Inside, you’ll find beloved historic details – hardwood floors, fireplaces, and architectural nooks – alongside modern updates. Outside, neighbors gather for seasonal celebrations, block parties, porch concerts, beautification projects, and simple moments of connection. This tour is more than a walk through lovely homes – it’s an invitation to experience the character, warmth, and livability of historic North Woodside.
Profits from the tour will go to create a green native oasis out of a neighborhood traffic island where neighbors have been gathering since 1926 for holiday celebrations and more, and to help support the Linden-Lyttonsville Museum project.
